We also met actress Madison Davenport after watching her new movie "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl." She starred as Ruthie Smithens, Kit's good friend. Madison is from San Antonio, Texas, and has been acting for three years.

Are you like Ruthie in real life?
In some ways. Ruthie is kind of a girlie girl. I guess in some ways I am a girlie girl but she is also a very good friend.

Was it fun to work with the monkey?
It was really fun. Sometimes the monkey was a little bit of a diva because it came with the whole monkey memo. Don't look the monkey in the eye, don't show your teeth aroudn the monkey. Don't wear hats around the monkey. I guess it had something against hats. We didn't know what that one was, but we understood not showing your teeth. I guess that is like showing dominance.

What do you like better, acting or voices in animation movies?
That is a hard one. I really like them both. I like being in the studios and doing the voice overs because it is fun and quick and easy. But I also love being on screen and being able to play a character and being able to be them and wear the costumes like Ruthie's.

Did you make any new friends on the set?
Yes. I met Zach Mills and Abigail Breslin and Willow Smith. They are all really nice, especially Abbie and Zach. Me and Abby actually had a sleepover when we were Canada. When we had a day off we had a sleepover.

Do you have an American Girl doll?
Yes, actually my very first doll was Kit. I got her when I was 4, and I wanted to cut my hair like Kit's my hair was so long and it was blonde. I cut it by myself but I guess I really didn't understand how to cut my hair and then I did get it cut like kit and I walked around in the matching outfits.

Is it true that you are a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do?
Yes.

How do your parents feel about you being famous?
They treat me the same, I still have to do chores and make my bed. I am still treated the same, I don't get the star treatment.

What was your favorite movie to act in?
This was my very first big movie, so it is my favorite. I got to go to Canada and meet some really great people like Wallace Shawn from "The Princess Bride." It was really just a great experience.

What celebrities would you like to work with?
Drew Barrymore just because people keep telling me that she is really nice. I have always loved her movies like "Ever After," hat is my favorite movie of hers.

Are there other movies that you wish you could have been in?
I don't know. I mean sometimes I see a couple of movies and I am like man I could have played that crazy part so well; I could have been evil. And then I could have been the princess also, but sometimes you like to watch the movies more than be in them. But "Kit Kittredge" is one of those movies where I [say] yes, I got to be in it.

How old were you when you started acting?
I was 7, but I have been acting almost my whole life in like musical theater and stuff like that I used to put on these long and interesting plays. I used to just stand there and do like these facial expressions and I would make my parents and friends watch them.

How did you get discovered?
I was doing musical theater and a scout wanted me to do acting classes. They wanted me to come out to California for a month for a pilot. I came out to California, and fell in love with California and I have been out here.

Has your brother Gage ever acted with you?
No he hasn't, but we did a voiceover together. I love my bubba.

What advice would you give to kids who want to be in show business?
I just think if you want to be an actor or a singer or in musical theater you just have to go for it and don't give up. You might not get the very first thing you audition for and I know because I auditioned for this one thing I really wanted but I didn't get it and my mother just told me to just cry and then we have to forget about it because it is just one thing and you can't let it get to you. So don't give up and keep on going for it and keep on trying and trying.
