Anchor: The American Girl collection is coming to life. The popular doll and book series is hitting the big screen this summer for the first time ever. The movie is called Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and we are so happy to be joined by Madison Davenport, she plays one of the girls named Ruthie. Madison, thanks for joining us.

Madison: Thank you!

Anchor: So tell us a little bit about the film and your character, you plays Kit's best friend Ruthie.

Madison: Yes uhm well, the movie is all about Kit, an eleven year old who really wants to become a reporter for the Cincinnati Register and she's kind of going through a hard time, it's the 1930's, The Great Depression, so uhm but something does happen to her family in the film so she has to solve the mystery and help her family get through this really hard time. And Ruthie is Kit's best friend and she's kind of like Kit's assistent in solving the crime.

Anchor: Now, I want to ask you, it's so interesting to me, did you have an American girl doll growing up?

Madison: I did, actually Kit was my very first doll when I was four and since my hair was blond before the movie I cut it to look like her and I'd walk around in matching outfits and I'd walk around with my doll and we'd have the same outfits and the same haircut and everything.

Anchor: So then how does it feel, I mean now that you are in this movie I understand your character's doll was just released for the film, how does that feel?

Madison: It feels really good, I mean it was so cool to be able to know that there's going to be a doll made after the character that you played and actually I brought my doll today, I have her right here and uhm, yeah!

Anchor: Well congratulations!

Madison: Thank you!

Anchor: And now this film has an all-star cast, first of all, what was it like working with Abigail Breslin?

Madison: Oh she is so sweet, I mean she's a great actress and really down to earth and really nice.

Anchor: And now as you mentioned, this film takes place during the Great Depression, so what was it like making a movie about a historical time for you?

Madison: It was really cool and kind of hard at times too and, but really fun because when everybody put on their costumes it was really hard to remember that we were in 2007 at the time, not in the 1930's.

Anchor: And now what did you guys learn about that time period, the 1930's, the Great Depression?

Madison: We learned a lot, that people were loosing their houses at this time and that people lost everything and we also learned about Hobo Jungles and uhm, we learned a lot about Kit too.

Anchor: What an incredible experience for you and I know this much be such an exciting time, you recently had your premiere party, what was that like?

Madison: Yes. Oh it was really fun, uhm so we walked down the red carpet and it was a really great experience since it was my very first time walking down the red carpet for a big movie and it was such a great experience and t han the actor party, it was at the American girl doll store, it was like girl heaven in there. I mean, it was amazing.

Anchor: That's great. So you're getting used to the Hollywood lifestyle, the afterparties?

Madison: *laughs* I guess so, yeah.

Anchor: Now listen, what made you want to become and actress?

Madison: Well, I've always really been a dramaqueen. I've always just.. I made my parents sit there and watch me do my plays that I made up uhm and mostly what I would do is just sit there and speak jibber jabberish and be like this. Yeah I'd do nothing basically.

Anchor: Well listen, in addition to being a dramaqueen I know that you have an amazing voice and I understand that your favorite song is Somewhere Over The Rainbow?

Madison: Thank you, yes!

Anchor: So would you sing a little bit for us?

Madison: Ofcourse I will. Okay, so I'll start somewhere in the middle.

*Madison sings Somewhere Over The Rainbow*

Anchor: Oh Madison that is terrifict, you have such a lovely voice, you are so talented! So talented, so sweet, so charming and it has been so great to have you here with us today

Madison: Thank you! It was great talking to you.

Anchor: Alright Madison, congratulations with everything!

Madison: Thank you!

Anchor: And ofcourse you can check out Kit Kittredge: An American Girl in theatres nation wide beginning July 2.
